Description

1. Metodine Df Tablet contains Metronidazole + Diloxanide Furoate as a tablet, marketed by Searle Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd.. Category: Antiamoebic / Antiprotozoal.
2. Metronidazole is a synthetic antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent that belongs to the nitroimidazole class. Diloxanide (Furoate) is a dichloroacetamide derivative.
3. Used for: Acute dental infections, Acute ulcerative gingivitis, Amoebiasis, Anaerobic bacterial infection, Anaerobic infections, Dysentery, Giardiasis, Lung cancer and pancreatic cancer, Pelvic inflammatory disease, Protozoa infection; Asymptomatic cyst passers, Eradication, Intestinal amoebiasis, Mild amebic dysentery, Non-dysenteric intestinal amebiasis, Oliguria due to renal failure, Oliguria due to renal failure, Parkinsonism.
4. Precautions: Metronidazole should be used with caution in patients with any allergy. Diloxanide should be used with caution in patient with symptomatic intestinal amebiasis or extra-intestinal amebiasis, during pregnancy and in childrens less than 2 years of age.
