Description

1. Xalacom Eye Drops (f) contains Latanoprost + Timolol Maleate as a eye preparation, marketed by Pfizer Laboratories Ltd.. Category: Anti-glaucoma.
2. Latanoprost is a prostaglandin analogue which increases fluid outflow increase from the anterior chamber of the eye and thus reducing intra-ocular pressure (IOP). Timolol (Maleate) is a non-selective ß-blocking agent and blocks both ß1 and ß 2 adrenergic receptors.
3. Used for: Raised intracranial pressure, Sodium depletion; Angina, Glucoma, Hypertension, Iron deficiency anaemia, Migraine, Migraine prophylaxis, Myocardial infarction.
4. Precautions: Latanoprost should be used with caution in patients with kidney or liver disease or any allergy. Timolol should be used with caution in diabetic patients or patients with liver or kidney impairments.
